Jelizaveta Kopaca, is another of Sweden’s many strong junior skiers. She came to Sweden from Latvia a number of years ago saying that she loves to live and work here.
Why do you like to go skiing?
– Figure skating is my life. It’s fun learning new elements, and setting goals and struggling to reach them.
How did you start traveling?
– I was four years old. My mother wants me to start going, she said it was the best way to stay healthy. Then I fell in love with it!
What role models do you have in artwork?
– In particular, former world champion Jelizaveta Tuktamysjeva. She is great. She was the best at a young age, then all girls began to grow and became injured. She could not train or compete for a long time, but then she found new power and started from zero. She is my great idol.
What do you think your strong pages in artwork are?
“My coach often says I’m good at expressing feelings. But I think I need to develop it.
What else do you need to be better at?
“I’m usually nervous about competitions. It prevents me. I have difficulty concentrating on the simple elements, while the hard goes better. I am now working to calm down the competitions.
Tell us what it was like to come to Sweden and start training here.
My dad worked here. We moved to be with him five years ago, when I was eleven years old. I started training with my current coach Evgueni and it worked really well. I hope we will stay, I love Sweden.
What is your goal?
– My highest goal is OS 2022.
How are you going to get there?
“It’s just working hard on every workout. And to be positive.
What did you do in your spare time if you did not go skiing?
“At the moment, I can not imagine my life without figure skating. But I might have begun in any other sport, such as rhythmic gymnastics.
