World Championships: Interview with Julia Broberg Olsson
Julia Broberg Olsson went from being a junior-level skater to joining the Swedish national team, Team Surprise (Sweden 1), a year ago. this is her very first trip to the senior World Championships.
“It’s going to be so fun! I could never have made a better choice than joining Team Surprise and it feels like the World Championships is a fantastic conclusion to the journey of this season.”
How does it feel to be participating in your first Worlds, not to mention, to be doing so in your home country?
“We’ve had so many competitions this season, it feels like we’re really in the groove now. We’ve had such great preparation, otherwise, it would have probably felt a bit scarier. Now, I’m just looking forward to it!”
How was it for your teammates who participated in the 2012 World Championships in Gothenburg?
“As I’ve understood, there was a lot of pressure and attention. But they also told me it was exceptionally fun, especially because they won.”
What are you hoping for at Worlds?
“That we manage to achieve two perfect skates, exactly as good as we can achieve when everything just clicks, and of course hoping that could be good enough to land us on the podium. We’ve had a few experiences like that this season, so we know it’s possible, we just have to find that magic. My goal is to perform the best I can, avoiding disappointment by knowing I couldn’t have done anything differently. I also hope that the crowd will help us a little, with a ton of supporters cheering us on together.”
